Shields is one of the top edge rushers in the class and is an elite athlete with the ideal length and athleticism for the position. Due to his diverse skillset, it will be really interesting to see how he grows and develops and where he winds up on the defensive front in college. He is explosive out of his stance, gets hands on blockers quickly and uses his length well while showing he can collapse the pocket and chunk yards while showing strong COD and fluidity in space. He shows he can win with speed and good bend off the corner, and can make plays in space behind the line consistently. Checking into our rankings as a top 5 player across the defensive line, look for him to breakout this Fall and start seeing P4 interest/offers.
