The Oklahoma commit scored a touchdown on a stellar catch in the corner of the end zone before halftime. But, it was his work on defense that truly made an even bigger impact. Johnson came up with two interceptions in the game and had a couple impressive pass breakups in the game. Johnson showcased his range on one of the interceptions, and his natural instincts and playmaking ability put him in great position on both plays. Johnson had 46 tackles, seven for a loss, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble for Murrieta Valley last season. As a receiver, he caught 17 passes for 301 yards with five touchdowns.

He chose Oklahoma over Washington, UCLA and TCU among others. Johnson is the second player from California in Oklahoma’s 2026 recruiting class.

Johnson checks a lot of boxes as a major D1 prospect with his combination of length, speed, and athleticism. At 6’2” 170 lbs. he’s got the long speed to stay in phase vertically and the short area quickness/change of direction to mirror receiver’s lateral movement underneath. Fluid hip turn and backpedal with great drive out of his transition. Love his acceleration out of his break to close space and recover with the ball in the air. High level ball skills and awareness to locate and make plays on the football at the high point. Explosive playmaker on both sides of the ball with a wide skillset that could translate well to multiple positions at the college level.
