Our final prospect on this week’s breakdown is the only one that was strictly on the defensive side of the ball. We’ve been told that Edmond Memorial 2024 defensive back Vincent Mitchell is a very physical player and that came across immediately on the film. We don’t know Mitchell. We didn’t know much about him before throwing on the film. But we don’t think it’s a bold statement to say that he loves to hit. He’s a very physical player and he’s really good in the open field against ball carriers. Mitchell also takes good angles and does a good job of tracking players across the field. He does a really good job in run support situations and comes up and lays the hammer down from his safety position. When we watch his tape, he really reminds us of a linebacker or one of those hybrid players between linebacker and defensive back. But at 5’11 and 170 pounds, he’s definitely on the smaller side in terms of that position and he will probably stick to being a defensive back at the next level. So we want to see more of Mitchell in those passing situations from the safety position. The 2023 season will be big for Mitchell becoming a true college prospect but we think that it is definitely a possibility. What level is a different question.
