Valdez Stuvaints Valdez Stuvaints ATH McKeesport | 2025 State PA upped his rank with the announcement of his first Division One football scholarship opportunity.

On October 8th, 2024, the senior two-way athlete announced that Youngstown State had reached out in the form of an offer. It’s not often you see a first D1 given out to seniors this late in the process, yet good on Stuvaints for continuing to do all he can to put good tape on Hudl and making his name known throughout Western PA. 5’11, 190 pounds, a safety who provides positional versatility. I’m intrigued as to whether more D1s reach out to Stuvaints, or if he’ll end up collecting a good amount of PSAC offers in the coming weeks/months.

Valdez comes from NFL pedigree, with his father Russell Stuvaints having won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dez is a tough safety who runs the alley aggressively. He plays at a good pad level and is a reliable open-field tackler. Additionally, he possesses excellent ball skills and has performed impressively throughout the summer on the camp circuit. The prospect for the 2025 class demonstrates a scrappy playing style, which is advantageous on special teams. In my opinion, Dez is prepared to take on increased responsibility as a team contributor this season.
