McKeesport performed well in conference play, finishing with a 5-1 record and avoiding any losses until their season finale against conference rival Thomas Jefferson. Notably, the Port had an impressive 5-0 record in away games during the 2022 season. Unfortunately, their season came to an end with a loss in the third round of the playoffs against the formidable Aliquippa Quips, a powerhouse in Western PA. Although the Tigers have lost several offensive contributors, they have enough returning letterman to mount a strong campaign this year.
- Courtney Dunn Jr. Courtney Dunn Jr. 6'2" | DL McKeesport | 2024 State PA
- Jaydan Daniels-Keys Jaydan Daniels-Keys 6'1" | 255 lbs | OL McKeesport | 2024 State PA
- Nicholas Winowitch
- Valdez Stuvaints Valdez Stuvaints ATH McKeesport | 2025 State PA
- Anthony Boyd
- Lorenzo Lewis
Courtney has impressive burst and quickness off the line of scrimmage. He effectively utilizes hand violence and showcases redirection skills when chasing the ball. Courtney’s pursuit of the ball is from sideline to sideline, and he lays the wood on ball carriers who force him to cover ground. In addition to his explosive play, Dunn possesses versatility by excelling in both interior defensive line and the DE 5-technique positions. He displays physicality by consistently driving offensive linemen into the backfield, disrupting the flow of the interior. I’m confident that he has the necessary skills to play inside or outside along the DL. Courtney has received two Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) offers from Saint Francis and Duquesne in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
Spell maintains impressive quickness off the snap and synchronizes his hand violence with his footwork well. He’s good at engaging and disengaging when in pursuit of the ball. Mckeesport’s ‘24 DE displays athleticism, which is further enhanced by his long arms. Keith gives good effort and excels at using his footwork to execute pass rush moves with precision. Keith’s strength is on full display as he locks out offensive linemen, shedding them effortlessly in run support. Keith has one football scholarship offer from PSAC program Clarion to date.
Jayden’s has the ability to explode off the line of scrimmage, driving his feet upon contact. He excels in executing zone blocks and effectively down blocking. He has continued to hone his strong punch and refining his mobility in the offseason. His kick slide has improved and he displayed decent short area quickness on the camp circuit this summer. Daniels-Keys has garnered FCS and D2 attention but hasn’t been offered yet. McKeesport will look to players like Jayden for leadership in ‘23.
Highlights
Valdez comes from NFL pedigree, with his father Russell Stuvaints having won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dez is a tough safety who runs the alley aggressively. He plays at a good pad level and is a reliable open-field tackler. Additionally, he possesses excellent ball skills and has performed impressively throughout the summer on the camp circuit. The prospect for the 2025 class demonstrates a scrappy playing style, which is advantageous on special teams. In my opinion, Dez is prepared to take on increased responsibility as a team contributor this season.
Nicholas Winowitch
Nicholas Winowitch
Nicholas helped pave the way for multiple successful ball carriers last season. He is physical and displays a strong punch as an offensive tackle. He excels in executing reach and down blocks. Winowitch showcases physicality and does a commendable job of sealing off defenders. Standing at 6’3, he possesses good size and consistently demonstrates his ability to finish plays. He generates power from a low pad level, making him a successful drive blocker. Winowitch proves to be a reliable pass protector, showcasing a scrappy demeanor on the field. As a returning letterman, Nic will play a crucial role in leading the charge for the Tigers.
Brady displayed a stout base in general during the 2022 season. He has been focusing on building more upper body strength in the offseason, which was necessary for his skills to improve. Boyle is adept at pulling and executing down blocks in the run game. It appears that he has added more weight to his frame for the upcoming 2023 season. The promising OL/DL prospect, slated for the 2024 class, now weighs 250 lbs and stands at 6’2. Brady will contribute to the enforcement inside the trenches for the McKeesport Tigers.
Mike will look to bounce back in 2023 after missing most of last season due to injury. He’s undoubtedly a college prospect, capable of playing as a tight end (TE), H-back, or defensive end (DE), with the physical stature to match at 6’4, 235 lbs. As a run-blocking TE, he showcases solid technique, effectively driving his feet through contact. With Sapos undergoing rehabilitation and expected to return to full health, I am excited to witness his abilities as a pass catcher and runner this season. As a DE, Mike possesses a respectable burst off the line and the size necessary to disrupt passing lanes and bat down throws.
Highlights
Anthony Boyd
Anthony Boyd
Boyd is an athlete who will have to step up for the Tigers this season. He is the brother of Bobby Boyd, the productive ’22 Tiger athlete who eventually committed to PSAC Cal, Pa. Anthony is one of the leading returning ball carriers this season for the Tigers. The 2025 class prospect will contribute on both sides of the ball this season. Boyd also possesses the attributes needed to excel on special teams.
Lorenzo Lewis
Lorenzo Lewis
Lewis is a large, 6’3, 300 lbs offensive and defensive lineman for the McKeesport Tigers. Like a lot of the linemen for McKeesport, Lorenzo has valuable game experience and previously performed well for the Tigers. Some of Lewis’ strengths are reach and cut blocking. His size and strength will provide quality depth along the offensive and defensive lines.
