Junior Tyson Laster Tyson Laster 6'0" | DB Ardmore | 2027 State OK has been a prospect in the state’s 2027 class that has been on our radar since the end of his freshman season. He’s going into his third season as a starter for the Tigers and he splits his time on offense and defense. Following his freshman year, he was known mostly for his abilities on the defensive side of the ball. Simply put, he was incredibly advanced for a young cornerback. Last year, he emerged as a threat on the offensive side of the ball. He finished with over 600 yards and six touchdowns from the running back position. It’s clear that Laster is one of the best overall athletes on the team and Ardmore is doing the right thing by getting him involved as much as possible.

It was around this time a year ago that we first watched Ardmore’s Tyson Laster Tyson Laster 6'0" | DB Ardmore | 2027 State OK go to work and it was in a 7v7 tournament. After talking with C4’s Sean Cooper, who trains and coaches Laster in 7v7, we were sold on his potential as a prospect moving forward. Laster earned valuable starting time during his freshman season and he made the most of it. As a freshman, Laster was clearly one of the better athletes on the team and didn’t have a specific position locked down. But as we looked at the full body of work, he’s started to look more and more like a defensive back when it comes to the next level. Laster is another example of a prospect that we want to see more of moving forward, whether it’s on film or in person.

Tyson Laster Tyson Laster 6'0" | DB Ardmore | 2027 State OK is another Ardmore sophomore to watch this season and he was a name that we had circled prior to last fall. We heard about the name and knew there was some potential with him to have a significant impact early on in his high school career. He had just that on both sides of the ball and then we got a chance to watch him in person this offseason on the 7v7 circuit. He could have played at some of the younger divisions as he was still a freshman and he ended up playing up and he looked like he belonged. Laster is already on our radar as a defensive back to watch in the state’s 2027 class. He got his feet wet last season and now he’s ready to take off.

Ardmore standout Tyson Laster Tyson Laster 6'0" | DB Ardmore | 2027 State OK is the first of three defensive backs on this breakdown. We wrote about Laster back in February after seeing him perform at a very high level at a 7v7 tournament. Laster has the potential to be Ardmore’s best player on both sides of the ball this season. We know the Ardmore coaches are excited about his potential to be that impact player on offense and defense. But when we watched him earlier this year, he always stood out the most on the defensive side of the ball. And talking with people that simply know more football than we do, they believe he’s the next guy up and we can definitely see why.

Ardmore freshman defensive back Tyson Laster Tyson Laster 6'0" | DB Ardmore | 2027 State OK was on our radar prior to the 2023 season and he lived up to the hype and then some. And after watching a little 7v7 already this offseason and talking with some coaches in the know, Laster is definitely a name to know moving forward. He has the chance and the potential to be one of the best cover corners in the state’s 2027 class. He’s already turning heads on the 7v7 circuit and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him this spring. Laster doesn’t look like a freshman when he’s out there on the island and he has a ton of athletic ability. Ardmore used him in multiple ways last season but he looks like a cornerback moving forward.
