Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
True ball hawk with an excellent nose for the football, consistently creating turnovers and impacting the game on the defensive side. Productive playmaker who racked up eight interceptions and added three forced fumbles/recoveries. Shows good all-around game speed with the lateral agility to change directions quickly and the long speed to carry routes and cover vertically down the field. Displays strong awareness reading the quarterback’s eyes, allowing him to react decisively and put himself in position to make plays on the ball in the air. Adds value in the return game with vision and burst, making him a multi-phase contributor. Moved up over 100 spots into the Top 100 following a strong senior season and earned First Team 6A All-Conference honors.

is an electrifying athlete for this Red Mountain team. On the defensive side, he put up 31 total tackles, 17 of those as solo tackles, 3 TFLs, 3 INTs, and one of those being for a pick-six. He is a ballhawk on the outside at the corner position. He has lightning-fast acceleration and great movement skills. He can change direction on a dime and move fluidly out in open space to cover an extensive range of ground. Cornett contributed in all three phases for his team, but look out for him to be a standout at corner for his senior season.

In the fall, Cornett broke out onto the Long Island football scene. As a sophomore, he was one of the top players for an East Meadow team that went 7-1 in the regular season in Nassau Conference 1. Cornett played a big role at running back and especially at defensive back. We’ll start on offense, as East Meadow is a very run-heavy team and they utilized Cornett’s speed greatly. The Jets got Cornett into space and his speed and vision would allow him to record big runs as he was an elite athlete as just a sophomore. At defensive back, Cornett’s footwork and physicality allowed him to thrive. He did a great job in man coverage and was also a solid tackler. In spring 7v7 tournaments, Cornett has been excellent in coverage and has proven to be an outstanding receiver despite his high school mainly running the football.
