spent the weekend competing up in the 15U division and looked right at home after earning Top Performer honors earlier this year at our Battle in Bama event in the 14U group. Perkins is a physically developed young athlete for his age and carries himself with the confidence of a player used to competing against older competition. He showed good overall athletic ability and the versatility to impact the game on both sides of the ball when needed. Among the 2030 prospects in the 15U field, Perkins stood out as one of the more intriguing young players with plenty of upside ahead of him.

, a wide receiver at Smyrna Middle School that has been on my radar for about a year. Perkins initially caught my eye during last year’s Music City Mayhem tournament as well as the Tennessee Future Stars tryout in Nashville. I watched Perkins play recently and was very pleased with how he’s progressed. The rising freshman can easily make plays on both sides of the ball and is especially explosive on the offensive end.

, a wide receiver at Smyrna Middle School. Perkins had reps on both sides of the ball, impressing me both offensively and defensively. I really liked how Perkins could read the offense like a book and use his arms to contest the pass. Offensively, Perkins showed off his great speed and ability to get in perfect position to haul in the deep pass.

One of the top playmakers on offense throughout the Battle in Bama 14U group had to be 2030 WR Trent Perkins for the Tennessee Vultures. They came up just short in the championship game, but Perkins was a top option for the Vultures out wide all tournament long. He’s a physically imposing young athlete with size and athleticism that most prospects his age can’t matchup with.

, a wide receiver at Smyrna Middle School. On top of outstanding size and speed off the snap, Perkins stands out with his ability to be physical down the stretch, proving he can outmaneuver the defense and elevate off the ground to haul in the challenging deep pass. I also like how Perkins can juke out the opposition and get open for the short pass.

Perkins was a huge defensive gamechanger for Team Tennessee as he recovered a fumble and took the ball all the way to the house in the first half to tie things up at 6-6. Perkins also proved himself with his ability to cover offensive weapons in one-on-one scenarios down the stretch as well as protect the backfield with his quickness off the snap.

Down on the field during warmups, Perkins was one of the prospects that passed the eye test right away for me. Without question, one of the more physically developed prospects in the game, his play backed up his physical stature. With long arms and legs, he was was a constant threat on the outside for the 6th grade Tennessee Future Stars team. Ironically enough, it wasn’t his receiving ability that helped him find the end zone, it was his ability to create with the ball in his hands. Perkins’ second quarter scored on an End-around proved to be the touchdown that propelled Tennessee to the victory.
