Five 2030 WR Prospects to Know in Tennessee

With each new offseason comes a new wave of talent at the high school level with the arrival of a potential-filled rising freshman group.   As the state keeps investing more and more into youth development, the young talent in the state of Tennessee has become exponentially better at an earlier stage as the state began to see with the impact that 2029 class immediately made last season.   In a strong group of rising freshman receivers, these five 2030 prospects will be players to know as they look to start within the next two seasons.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2030 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2001414' first='Cole' last='Fritz'] — Baylor School</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2001414' first='Cole' last='Fritz'] is a dynamic young receiver prospect in the state of Tennessee with very good size, athleticism and ball skills.   He has a strong build, listed at six-foot and 170 pounds as he enters the high school level at a top program in the state.   He has shown excellent ball skills, attacking the ball with his hands and winning high-level contested catch and red zone opportunities at a consistent rate.   While he is big and can win the jump ball throws, he is a natural mover with great athleticism, allowing for him to have a lot YAC ability. Due to this, he can be used all over the formation and make plays.   He has the strength and fluid hips to win on routes over the middle of the field and that could develop into a strength for him at the high school level.   The physicality shows up on the defensive side of the ball, where he has been a reliable playmaking safety on the backend. Multi-sport athlete that also plays basketball and track.   He comes from an athletic family and is the younger brother of a former FCS starting safety. He has a big, strong frame — now listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds — and has the natural movement skills to play either perimeter receiver position.   He attacks the ball consistently and comes down with contested catch opportunities regularly. He is a good leaper when attacking the ball, which translates to track and field, where he runs hurdles and throws the shot put.   Despite being a bigger receiver, he is a fluid mover that can flip his hips and change direction, helping make him a reliable route runner.   Versatile athlete that also plays a productive safety and participates in track and field in the offseason.   EXPECTED ROLE IN 2026: He has the opportunity to be the third receiver at a top program in the state right away as a freshman.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2030 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2236333' first='Kelan' last='Taylor'] — Nashville Christian School</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2236333' first='Kelan' last='Taylor'] is an exciting young playmaker at the receiver position in the state of Tennessee with very good length, athleticism and body control.   Now listed at six-foot and 170 pounds, he has an excellent frame with a lot of room to continue to add mass upon without sacrificing any athleticism.   He is a great athlete with fluid movement skills that allows for him to begin each play in any of the three receiver positions and have success.   WIth his size, fluidity and athleticism, he has the ability to run every route option, especially as he continues to improve his leverage early in the play.   He has excellent body control that allows him to contort and haul in contested catch opportunities, especially in the red zone, where he is a dynamic weapon for his quarterback.   Versatile athlete that has shown big-time potential on the defensive side of the ball as a lockdown corner prospect with the ball skills translating there as well.   His speed and long strides show up on the track in the offseason with verified times of 11.19 (100m) and 23.84 (200m).   EXPECTED ROLE IN 2026: He should come in immediately and start for a top private school offense while also contributing as a defensive back.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2030 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1695516' first='Braylen' last='Mathis'] — Grace Christian Academy</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1695516' first='Braylen' last='Mathis'] is an exciting slot receiver prospect in the state of Tennessee with good size, route running and versatility.   While not having a consensus frame estimate, he looks to have a good frame on tape with a strong frame that I would estimate stands around 5-foot-10.   He can flip his hips in an instant and can snap off routes, which has allowed for him to be consistently effective on out-breaking routes. The hope would be it eventually translates to in-breaking routes, but that should come naturally with simply having the opportunity as he gets older.   He is a versatile playmaker that can line up on the inside or outside. He can make an impact in the immediate, intermediate and downfield game.   He showed the ability to attack corners vertically against a top private school opponent in BGA for a 33-yard catch. He saw some action on the varsity level as an eighth grader, recording 77 yards.   Multi-sport athlete that reportedly ran a verified 11.85 second 100m.   EXPECTED ROLE IN 2026: Compete for a starting spot as a freshman and at least be a key part of the receiver rotation immediately.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2030 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2118525' first='Nakavi' last='Gundy'] — Rockvale High School</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2118525' first='Nakavi' last='Gundy'] is an exciting young athlete at the receiver position with elite speed inside a very good frame with natural movement skills.   He is highly explosive with a verified 11.09 second 100m that he recorded in the TSSAA Middle School State Championship. Also verified at 23.11 in the 200m event.   That explosiveness translates to the field as he turns from receiver to runner, showing strong burst to generate yards after the catch.   Likely standing around 6-foot-1, he has very good size for the position that will translate strongly to the high school level. As he has added more mass this offseason, he has the frame to make tough catches at a consistent level. The size and explosive ability has shown up this offseason as he has consistently come down with jump ball opportunities.   The leaping ability translates to the track as well, with a verified 17-6 long jump.   His explosiveness and physicality translated to the defensive side of the ball where he was a very productive linebacker at the middle school level.   Multi-sport athlete that is a legit track star in the offseason.   EXPECTED ROLE IN 2026: He should have the opportunity to be a part of the receiver rotation as he refines the nuances in his game with the opportunity to start soon after.
