Expert Analysis
Patton Fitzpatrick | Prep Redzone Scout
The experienced Class of 2025 running back from one of the state’s top programs saw time on varsity as a freshman. In his sophomore season, he dominated. Martin went for over 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns last year. The East St. Louis product has a lethal combination of speed, vision, and balance that makes him one of the top backs in the state. Martin, who is also a track star, shows off his speed on downhill runs. He doesn’t waste time looking for a hole. Once one opens up, Martin gets downhill and accelerates to another gear that most RBs don’t possess. When there is no lane, Martin has the vision to make something open up, and he always finishes his runs falling forward. Heading into his junior season, Martin is currently the top back for the Class of 2025 in the state.

Mr. Martin is another highly talented young man that ESL has on their roster. This young man finished the day with 1 reception for 13 yards, 17 carries for 174 yards with 3 TDs. He’s a speed back that can either bounce plays outside to break long runs or work between the tackles using his foot quicks to burst through the hole before gaining a step on 2nd level defenders. Don’t shy away from this young man because he’s running behind the best OL in the state, his talents alone would be the same if he were to play behind a less coveted line being able to put up similar numbers. Next season will be the true tell all for this young man as ESL will have a new OL with their standouts heading to play P5 football. Be sure to keep a close eye on his performance as I believe he’s going to continue turning heads with his performance.

Starting off, we’re diving into Mr. Martin who had himself a showing against a stout Lemont defense ending the night with 4 rushing TDs. These went for 7 yards, 35 yards, 10 yards, and finished the night with a 71 yard rushing TD. If you give this young man a sliver of a lane he can get skinny to hit and use his foot quicks to burst through gaining a step on 2nd level defenders to break a long run. Pair his ability to change direction quickly by stopping on a dime with his quick acceleration to change gears and you have yourself one of the top RBs in the state for his class. As ESL heads back to the 6A IHSA State Championship game, look for this young man to make a few big plays for his team as he runs behind one of the best O-Line in the state. Twitter
