Tanner is a west side linebacker that absolutely drips potential. The rangy Catholic Central linebacker is not hard to notice on the field. Watching Tanners film it is clear that this young backer takes a back seat to no one. Tanner is a prototype linebacker that is built to shut the run down. Tanner shows excellent natural instincts from his middle linebacker spot and shut’sthe middle of the field down. I am also impressed with tanners ability to shed blocks and fight to the ball carrier to make a stop. Keep an eye on Tanner this fall and expect big things from this 2028 backer as the season takes off.

Earning Varsity reps as a Freshman at Grand Rapids Catholic Central is very impressive!

Starting out against Notre Dame Prep, Tanner does a good job correctly reading the QB and immediately attacking once he rolls out. The QB ends up hesitating, leading to a sack. Next, another good attack. This time, against a designed QB run. All in all, Tanner flashes as an off-ball linebacker. This season, perhaps as a full-time varsity starter, I’m expecting much faster reaction and better play speed. Upgrades to these areas, although already above average, will help Tanner’s game quite a bit.
