STEADY. Tanner is super consistent from his linebacker spot for the cougars. Tanner seems to always be in the right spot to make a play and when he arrives he delivers a boom. I am always impressed with tanners ability to get off from blocks and weave his way to the ball carrier. I also really like the way Tanner drops in pass coverage whether it’s in man coverage or zone, Tanner always seems to be in a spot to make a play. Catholic Central is off to a very nice start this year and Tanner has been a big reason why. I am excited to see what Tanner has in store the rest of the year and what he does in the playoffs as the regular season winds down.

Tanner has no problem being physical and filling gaps, but the part of his game I love is his speed. This dude is shot out of a cannon on every play, and he can legitimately make plays from sideline to sideline. He diagnoses quickly and does a great job of flowing, ripping through block attempts and making the play. He brings the energy consistently and doesn’t take plays off. I have been really impressed by him so far, but he hasn’t hardly scratched the surface of his potential. Plenty more to come for Tanner!

Tanner is a west side linebacker that absolutely drips potential. The rangy Catholic Central linebacker is not hard to notice on the field. Watching Tanners film it is clear that this young backer takes a back seat to no one. Tanner is a prototype linebacker that is built to shut the run down. Tanner shows excellent natural instincts from his middle linebacker spot and shut’sthe middle of the field down. I am also impressed with tanners ability to shed blocks and fight to the ball carrier to make a stop. Keep an eye on Tanner this fall and expect big things from this 2028 backer as the season takes off.

Earning Varsity reps as a Freshman at Grand Rapids Catholic Central is very impressive!

Starting out against Notre Dame Prep, Tanner does a good job correctly reading the QB and immediately attacking once he rolls out. The QB ends up hesitating, leading to a sack. Next, another good attack. This time, against a designed QB run. All in all, Tanner flashes as an off-ball linebacker. This season, perhaps as a full-time varsity starter, I’m expecting much faster reaction and better play speed. Upgrades to these areas, although already above average, will help Tanner’s game quite a bit.
