announced his commitment to Idaho State on Monday.
He caught 64 passes for 931 yards with eight touchdowns last season. Kurtz was a top finisher at the You Are Athlete camp and the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase.
Idaho State was the first school to offer Kurtz and he also had offers from Eastern Washington and San Diego. Kurtz is the fourth player from California in Idaho State’s 2026 recruiting class and the third receiver.

Notes: Kurtz is one of the more explosive players on both sides of the ball across the region heading into the 2025 season and has elite downfield speed, tracking abilities and can create separation over the top of defenders. He has reeled in his first couple offers the last few months and should continue to gather FCS+ interest/offers through his senior season and be a very nice late steal for a program near national signing day.

Kurtz is a two-way guy who caught 64 passes for 931 yards with eight touchdowns last season.
He’s had a great offseason earning top performer honors at the You Are Athlete camp and the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase. Kurtz is a twitchy athlete who is explosive off the line of scrimmage. He recently ran a 4.47 laser time 40-yard dash and his speed helps him in the return game and after the catch. Idaho State recently gave him his first Division 1 offer.

Kurtz is one of the more under-recruited prospects across Southern California and it will only be a matter of time until he lands his first FCS offer. He is a very twitchy and elusive route runner that can create separation downfield and has a big catch radius and body control when making contested catches. He’s explosive with the ball in his hands and can make defenders miss in the open field with short area quickness/lateral agility and is a patient route runner that can beat both man and zone coverage. Also showing elite downfield speed and vision in space, he is a big play returner as well and can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball. The Huntington Beach product recently picked up his first offer from Minot State and should have a busy summer increasing his stock.

Kurtz came in to Sunday’s camp as one of the most productive wideouts after recording 64 catches for 931 yards and 8 TDs as a junior. He was one of the more physically developed skill guys at 6’1″/185 and showed a well-rounded athletic skillset throughout each session. Versatile playmaker on film that also totaled 80 tackles, 3 INTs, and 15 PBUs in 2024. Kurtz’s production, film, and physical skillset should kick up some interest on the recruiting trail in the near future.
