Smooth athleticism for the dual-threat QB who has led Red Mountain to a 4-0 record to start the 2024 season. 6’2” 180 lbs. he’s got good length in his frame that gives him plus arm strength. Possesses a short and compact release that allows him to get the ball out quick and on time. He’s fluid in his drop back landing with a well-balanced throwing platform to be accurate from the pocket. Very effective on designed runs or when pulling it down to use his legs. Flashes some speed and elusiveness at the second level. In just four games, he has almost 1,000 yards passing and 12 touchdowns with zero interceptions in 61 attempts. Was also selected as the QB MVP of the PRZ Arizona Showcase in April.

stood out for many reasons but nothing stood out more to me than his consistency. His accuracy was on point throughout the day and he threw a very catchable ball that the receivers didn’t have any trouble hauling in. It wasn’t just his arm though, Lopez was able to showcase his impressive athleticism by having the fastest 40-yard dash (4.72) and L-drill (6.87), as well as the longest broad jump (9’1″) of any quarterback in attendance. Following a season where he had 11 rushing touchdowns, Lopez looks ready to take another big jump while at the helm for Red Mountain.

set the bar pretty high for himself. Fortunately for him, he has the tools to keep up with those expectations. With a smooth delivery, he has no problem fitting the ball through a keyhole when he needs to. Lopez shows incredible touch on the deep ball, able to throw his receivers open and lead them away from defenders while keeping the ball safe. Keeping the ball out of harm’s way just might be Lopez’s biggest strength. Through his four playoff games in 2023, he had 5 TDs to go against no interceptions. This only added to an incredibly impressive playoff run; one in which he averaged over 140 yards per game through the air and a QBR over 105. Lopez will be looking to finish the job this season with Red Mountain.

, the talented quarterback from Red Mountain, is a powerhouse on the field. It starts with his really good arm strength and the capability to deliver stunning deep balls. His accuracy, particularly on these long throws, is a testament to his technique and form. It seemingly always has him in the right position to make a play. Lopez has really good footwork on his initial drop; I would love to see him maneuver within the pocket a little more. When the pocket starts to break down, he can look to scramble before the pocket has fully collapsed, but he has the athleticism to do so. Always keeping his eyes downfield, he balances this with the ability to break a game open with his legs. As a runner, Lopez has impressive speed, combined with an elusiveness that effectively gets the job done. He’s surprisingly hard to bring down, even without having the biggest frame.
