The Andover Huskies WR and recent MN All-Star game selection has senior tape so impressive that I had to check, double-check, and then triple-check that this was a PWO offer, but I’m fairly certain this is a walk-on, and a mighty one at that given the tradition NDSU has of developing their walk-ons and putting a lot of meaning behind their PWO offers. At 6’2, 180, Musungu has posted 37 catches for 594 yards and 13 TDs in six games as well as 5 PBUs, 2 tackles, a TFL, and a sack on defense and tied the Minnesota single-game record with five TD receptions in a game vs. Buffalo earlier this fall. Musungu came into the season with MSU-Mankato, Valpo, UMary, Minnesota-Duluth, Cornell University, and Johns Hopkins offers but stepped things up a notch with that FCS heavyweight walk-on offer this October. St. John’s and Winona have also joined the fray this season. The wideout is dangerous in the open field and in space, capable of turning routine screens into huge TD runs thanks to his vision, burst, and powerful cuts that run through contact easily. His hips also help him create separation at the top of the route, and his speed allow him to successfully burn man and zone coverage in vertical routes. Would be an excellent PWO pickup for the Bison if they can pull off the commitment. PRzMN will keep you posted!

The experienced 6’1, 180 lb. Andover WR Sam Musungu came into the season well-known and popular on the recruiting trail, With MSU-Mankato, Valpo, UMD, UMary, Cornell University, and Johns Hopkins all having reached out with scholarships or roster spots during the season. The fall brought new opportunities from St. John’s and Winona State, and things really level up when North Dakota State reached out with an opportunity in October. Musungu tied the state record for single-game TD receptions this fall as he posted 5 vs. Buffalo, and in the regular season he finished with 37 catches for 594 yards and 12 TDs plus 5 PBUs, an INT, and a TFL defensively. His film looks great, as Musungu shows he’s lethal in space, and can turn traffic-filled WR screens at or right around the LOS into huge gains and a ton of missed tackles. He’s explosive, shows powerful hips that help him create separation in his routes and make people miss in the open field, and is a strong athlete at the position. This dude is really raising his stock this 2022 season and I’m pumped NDSU took notice.

Sam has had an incredible senior season and is currently tied for the states leader in receiving touchdowns at 12. Defenders had no answer for him in the win over Coon Rapids as he torched them for 131 yards on 7 catches and scored 3 touchdowns. He is truly the full package at the wide receiver position and has been unstoppable this year with his speed and hands. Musungu holds offers from a multitude of different Division 1, 2, and 3 programs right now and I expect that list to keep growing if he continues to turn in these kinds of performances. Andover has a Friday night matchup with Monticello next.

Sam went off versus Brainerd this past Friday. He totaled a crazy 214 yards through the air, scoring three touchdowns on only 10 catches. His game breaking speed is special and I fully expect him to be turning in amazing statlines for the rest of the season. The Huskies have a matchup with Elk River this Friday.
