Hooks finished the night with 104 yards on 22 carries. Pretty impressive considering it looked as if St. X had their defensive game plan set up to contain Hooks. Ryder showed his trademark explosive running style and vision that helped him set rushing records at East. Ryder will now head to the college game where he has offers from Eastern Kentucky as well as a handful of MAC offers.
Hooks is a Swiss Army knife for the Lakota East football program. He can line up and damage the defense as a running back from shotgun, pistol, or under-center formations, or as a slot receiver. He has an explosive release and accelerates quickly. He frequently looks to bounce outside because there aren’t many athletes who can bring him down when he reaches full speed. His 4.5-second 40 time is evident, and he can take the ball to the end zone in no time. He fights through contact effectively and doesn’t shy away from it. Ryder HooksRyderHooks

brings energy to the field, and I expect to see his name getting more offers throughout his senior season.
Ryder had a great Junior season in 2024 where he rushed for 1600 yds and scored 15 TD. His excellent play helped the Lakota East Thunderhawks to a 7-win season where they averaged 33.4 points per game. He exhibits very good quickness as he gets to the edge and turns the corner. He possesses an elite combination of elusiveness, play speed and contact balance in the open field as he scores easily on a long touchdown run. He is a reliable receiver in the passing game as he possesses excellent hands as he makes an impressive one handed catch. After the catch is made he exhibits great play speed as he picks up a first down.
Ryder had a very good Sophomore season in 2023. His outstanding play was a bright spot in the 1-9 season of the Lakota East Thunderhawks. He shows great vision as he quickly finds the open hole. He exhibits solid quickness as he makes LB miss in space and accelerates very quickly once in the secondary. His excellent play speed enables him to outrun all defenders and score on a long touchdown run. He is a reliable receiver in the passing game showing good hands as he makes the catch. After the catch is made he overpowers a DB breaking a tackle before scoring a TD.
Lakota East is a young team that has certainly taken its lumps this season. That being said they have some young players to be excited about. Ryder is one of those players. Though just a sophomore, Hooks was the third leading rusher in the perennially strong GMC conference for the 2023 regular season. At 5’7 165 pounds Ryder is a smaller running back that uses his size to his advantage as he his advantage he hides behind his blockers and darts back and forth to pick up yards. In the open field he’s an elusive runner who is able to absorb contact and stay on his feet. In the passing game, he’s a fluid receiver of the football and a has a great feel for the screen game. It will be interesting to see how his game grows and changes as Ryder continues to get bigger and stronger./
