Of the two junior linebackers at Jordan, Smith is guy who excels in pass coverage. While he’s more the size of a defensive back, he plays outside linebacker, living in the box. That’s because his first-step quickness and anticipation are excellent. He can get out and cover guys, but he’s at his best in zone coverage or stuffing the run in congested areas.

Smith is an athletic defender with roots on the offensive side of the ball. That gives him great instincts and an ability to be in the right place at the right time. He pulled down multiple interceptions last year, one in man coverage and one in zone coverage, showing his versatility. Smith is one to watch for the future.
