Expert Analysis
Robert Davis | Prep Redzone Scout
Ayres is an edge defender who consistently brings intensity and is a disruptive force. He finished the season with 52 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and two sacks, showing his ability to impact plays in the backfield. Ayres shows quick hands when getting off block and displays strong closing speed once he sees the ball carrier. In space, he breaks down well and tackles with authority, limiting yards after contact. He has a nonstop motor playing through the whistle, making him a reliable presence on a talented defensive. With another productive offseason, Ayres can solidify himself as a name college scouts prioritize.

is on the rise to be a potential All State player in the next two years. One thing that pops out to me about Ayres’ game is his ability to take off the field drill work and see it show up on film. Gaining extension on contact through the hips, locking out OL shedding and making a tackle – clinic sled work. Another technique he’s polished is his stick dip and rip, using this to pry his way into to backfield for TFLs in the run game. Hes got a quick spin move and ice pick to seal OTs inside which counters well off the DL movements built into the defense. Ayres is also very effective on stunts, staying tight as the looper. Finally, he has a knack for sniffing out screens. In 11 games as a Soph, he finished with 15 hurries, 3.5 sacks, 12 TFLs, and 55 TKLs. I like Ayres’ toolbox and think he’s got potential to be a game-wrecker as he matures.
