Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Mavromat measures in at 5’10 185-pounds. He’s a versatile defensive prospect. Mainly playing as LB last year and did some nickel as well! He had 122 total tackles (82 solo, 40 assisted), 8 TFL, 3 sacks, 6 QB pressures, 1 INT, 2 PD, 1 FF, and 2 FR (1 returned for a TD). Mavromat brought the same tenacity and energy on the field into the session. He has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, change of direction, lateral quickness, and good jumping. On film, it shows his very good read and reaction speed. During the session, I saw his quick twitch ability, with very good get off and block shedding. Another aspect on film that I saw other than very good tackling, was his coverage skills. He has a smooth back pedal and fluid torso to match receivers or running backs out of the backfield. Mavromat just earned his first D1 offer from Pittsburgh! I believe this is the first of many for an exciting versatile linebacker!

Mavromat immediately looked the part of a Division I athlete. His testing numbers only tell part of the story, as his explosiveness and play speed stood out throughout the day. During individual drills, he showed a next level pass rush skill set, consistently disrupting reps with a quick first step and violent hands. He displayed a strong ability to disengage from blocks and finish plays in the backfield. In one on one, Mavromat was equally impressive, locking down his matchup and controlling the rep from start to finish. His combination of athleticism, technique and motor makes him a prospect college staffs should prioritize. This is a player whose stock will rise quickly once scouts turn on the film, making him one of the top backers in the state.

has a tremendous first step and closes ground in a hurry from his linebacker spot. In the run game, Nico is slippery and excels at avoiding oncoming blocker by reducing surface area and dipping low around them. What I love is Nico’s blitzing ability. It all starts from his great get off by reading and timing the snap extremely well – often OL can’t even get a hand on him he is in the backfield in such a hurry. He isn’t afraid to lay the wood at any point on the field either and has caused multiple fumbles and PBUs from his physicality. Nico is a standout in the weight room moving well above his weight.

Nico’s hunger is on full display this season. Through 2 games, he has 24 total tackles (15 solo, 9 assisted), 1 INT, 3 QB pressures. Wow, boy am I impressed with his growth as a player. He has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, change of direction, lateral agility, and good jumping. Mavromat has a quick twitch in his game, allowing him explosive take offs. He’s a very productive blitzer. Very good read and reaction time. Very good range. He’ll run across the field to make the tackle. Very good tackler. Stops the ball carrier instantly. He plugs up gaps for his defense, and lays the boom on ball carriers. Good block shedding. He’s a big hitter, and very physical. Took out the blocking TE, and got the tackle on the running back resulting in a 1 yard gain. Mavromat is productive on special teams as well. He brings the same fire and energy to special teams. On a punt, he even took out 2 blockers by himself. He’s been gunning to be one of the top linebackers in the state, and his work is paying off.

Mavromat continues to impress me over the off season. He had a great summer with strong performances at different camps. He can switch between LB and SS. Measuring in at 5’9 176 pounds, last season he had 33 total tackles (25 solo, 8 assisted), 2 QB hurries, and 1 pass deflection. Mavromat has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction, lateral agility, good jumping, and speed. Very good mental processing due to his react and reaction time. He is a good block shedder and a stout run stopper. He has very good tackling, and doesn’t allow the RB any extra yards. In coverage, he succeeds. Mavromat is sticky in man coverage, and as the athletic ability to cover tight ends out in space. Keep an eye on this rising star.

Nico has been on the rise this off-season winning MVP honors for the linebacking group. Demonstrating very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction/lateral agility, good jumping, and speed. He was locked in throughout the drills, not being distracted. Mavromat was explosive out of was his stance, allowing him to engage the RB before they had a chance to move. During drills with RBs and TEs, Mavromat thrived. He has a good back pedal, and was sticky on the tight end in man coverage, resulting in a pass breakup. Keep an eye on this rising young prospect, as he continues to make a name for himself !!

Mavromat secured Linebacker MVP honors after proving to be a disruptive force. Mavromat showcased excellent speed and instincts, getting into his drops quickly and reading the quarterback’s eyes to make plays. His athleticism allowed him to cover tight ends and running backs effectively in coverage, particularly during 3v2 drills and 7 on 7. His vision and quickness should make him one of the top linebackers to watch this summer and he will be one of my highly rated stock watch candidate to know during the fall.

came to work at the showcase last weekend. Coming from Colorado to AZ for this camp, Mavromat highlighted what he can bring to the table at the linebacker position. The first thing you notice is his agility, able to change direction smoothly and efficiently. His ability to cover in space is impressive, as he moves well with twitchiness at the position to cover tons of ground in his zone. He can match up nicely against running backs and even slot receivers in man. Mavromat shined this past weekend, and will definitely be getting more looks in Houston for the All-American Showcase.
