Mensah is a rising corner for Cherokee Trail. He measures in at 6’0 160-pounds with 21 total tackles (16 solo, 5 assisted), 1 INT, 2 PBU, 2 FR, 0 catches allowed. He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, speed, good jumping, and acceleration. Controlled back pedal. Mensah does a good job jamming and re-routing the receiver. Mensah uses his fluid hips to match WR breaking into the route. He excels in man coverage. Staying stride for stride with the receiver and uses his arms to create pass break ups. Very good closing quickness. Good zone coverage. Mensah has demonstrated a knack for tackling and helping in the run game. I’m very excited to see how he continues to develop as a corner!

At 6’0 160, Mensah Jr has good size for the cornerback position. Possessing a tall, lanky frame Mensah shows up in the run game getting dirty between the tackles and as the edge of the defense on the outside. Mensah shows good tools in man coverage – push to move, mirror and expand with the WR while maintaining leverage. His play in the half turn is developing as well. What I love is his tenacity and hard work on special teams, working hard as a gunner on punt, recovering 2 fumbles, and running hard on kickoff coverage. To take the next step I want to see Mensah continue to get comfortable in his movements specifically in transitioning, baseball turn, and back pedal. Mensah is a long corner that can run and with continuously developing good tools the sky is the limit.

Mensah has been putting in the work this offseason, and it’s about to pay off. Playing across from one of the state’s top 2027 corners, Mensah will see his fair share of action, something he’s fully prepared for. He has a fluid backpedal, clean footwork, and the timing to break on the ball with confidence. He’s not afraid to play aggressive and has the mindset to be a lockdown defender. His upside is evident, and this could be the year where everything clicks. Mensah is a breakout candidate to circle as one of the 2028 class’s rising DBs.
