2027 Wellsville quarterback Richie Wyse has a bright future for the Tigers and could be the catalyst that turns their program around. Although just a freshman, Wyse looks the part in person and is only going to continue to get better over the next three years. He’s a good athlete for his age who plays faster in pads than his testing numbers showed and has the versatility to play other positions on the field. From watching his freshman film, you’d think he was primarily a run-threat option quarterback, but Wyse threw the ball well during the camp and showed he’s also talented in that aspect of the position too. He showed his freshman experience at times but made more good throws than poor throws and got more comfortable as the camp went on.
Wyse finished the day strong during the routes on air portion of the camp with accurate passes at all levels of the route tree as well as showing he can push the ball downfield on go balls and deep posts. He’ll be an under-the-radar prospect in Ohio’s smallest classification, but Wyse has the opportunity to make his name known over the next three years if he continues the trajectory that he’s on.
