Jefferson DL Quintin Goins Quintin Goins 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Jefferson County | 2024 State WV is an awesome story and one of the more intriguing prospects in this class. The former QB turned DE has a great athletic foundation to build on and made tremendous strides with his transition to a completely opposite position. I thought he was a no-doubt D1 scholarship prospect worthy of FCS and maybe G5 offers but will look to earn one at WVU as a PWO. Out of all the talented PWOs in this WVU class, Goins would be my pick for the best chance to earn a scholarship in time.
Below was our evaluation of Goins this season.
Written by Dylan Callaghan-Croley in 2024 Rankings Update: Top 10 DLrnAt 6-foot-3 and 250-pounds, Goins could grow into a defensive tackle at the next level or stay at defensive end as well where’s already built quite well. When playing off the edge, Goins shows a good first step and bend in his game allowing him to get into the backfield. Shows good athleticism and agility to go along with quality straight line speed. Physical with the upper body strength to shed and battle through blocks. Has a PWO offer from West Virginia which would be a great PWO pickup for the Mountaineers.

Jefferson DL Quintin Goins Quintin Goins 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Jefferson County | 2024 State WV will be yet another WVU PWO after a monster season at defensive end for the Cougars.
Goins totaled 60 tackles, 27 TFLs, 15 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles during the regular season as one of the state’s best defensive linemen this season. He was a PRZ WV Class AAA First Team All-State selection and First Team All-EPAC for his senior year.
The 6’3 250 big man is a great story who transitioned from quarterback his junior year and never looked back. Goins was a no doubt D1 scholarship-level prospect with a great chance of earning one at WVU.

Jefferson senior defensive end Quintin Goins Quintin Goins 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Jefferson County | 2024 State WV may be the biggest DL stock riser in the state this season and has been very impressive through the first half of the season. The 6’3 250 converted quarterback has all of the tools and natural ability to be a high-level defensive lineman at the next level. Goins has the size, athleticism, and has really developed his game the past year at a new position. His technique is very good for someone who hasn’t been playing the position for very long and you see flashes of greatness on film. I fully believe that he is a Division 1 prospect and certainly worthy of some D1 offers.
