Camp season is my favorite time of the year because I get to get out and see not only WI athletes, but stars of other states as well. Mankato West is home to an impressive QB in

. The dual threat QB checked a lot of boxes throughout the day. Starting with his combine and check-in. The ’27 QB measured in at 6’4″ 210 lbs, ran a 4.79 40, 4.69 shuttle, jumped 9′ in the broad, and ran a pair of 7.53 L-Drills. No question the big man can move within and outside of the pocket and do serious damage when he breaks the line of scrimmage.
When the pads went on and the footballs came out it was even more impressive watching the prototypical QB. Osborne is blessed with an arm that has the strength to match his large frame. The ball jumps out of his hand on every throw. The vast majority of the field is open to Osborne to attack when he drops back to throw because of his arm strength. His natural athleticism also gives him the ability to be very fluid through his footwork and throwing mechanics. It was also great to see as the day went on Osborne was able to get more and more accurate. From what I was able to see I’m not sure there are many throws that Lorenz can’t make. It is easy to see why he holds a Top 10 ranking at the position over in MN.

I had the privilege of working with Ozzy over this last season while interning at Mankato West, and I can say from first-hand experience that

is the real deal at QB. Lorenz added dimension to the Scarlets’ offense with his mobility and showed improvement with his deep ball as time went on. His presence on the field was missed as he missed most of the regular season with an ankle injury, and I believe that Lorenz should regain the promising form that he showed early on during the 2025 season. When healthy, Lorenz is one of the best QBs in the conference and he will look to put up a show in his senior campaign for the Scarlets.

Alright. I’m on the Lorenz hype train. Dude has evolved tenfold in the last year, both in terms of physicality and technique. He’s a true 6’4″ and thick too, perfect for running over a defender. His accuracy has developed rapidly, and his throwing motion has become far more natural. His arm strength has grown as well. He has a returning starter ahead of him in the depth chart, but don’t be surprised if we see a high-level QB battle. Worst case scenario, Lorenz gets another development year that fully prepares him to burst onto the scene by his senior year.
