Nolan recently committed to GVSU, and I can see why they liked him so much! He has a fantastic build and has the quick step off the ball to really take control at the snap. He stays balanced and has no issue driving defenders 10 yards downfield. On top of his ability right at the line of scrimmage, Nolan can get down field and lock on at the 2nd level and be an absolute bulldozer into the secondary. He is incredibly impressive in all phases of his game and the offers he received showed a lot of colleges were too!

Nolan has some quality tape through week 3. A minute of watching his highlights, and you’ll see why he’s committed to #2 ranked Grand Valley State. For one, he’s a dominant run blocker. Having faced plenty of good competition so far, Nolan has shown consistently great power and usually good footwork. On top of that, he engages in a wide variety of blocks from basic down blocks to more difficult reach blocks. When it comes to pass blocking, Nolan has OK footwork (still better than 90% of linemen) but still shows that exceptional power. Nolan is a well-repped leader on the Offensive line and I’m happy to see his best traits shining through heading into week 4.

I really like this pickup from GVSU!
Last season, Nolan showed a ton of improvement as a tackle. No matter what block he’s asked to execute, Nolan has done a great job at being a straight-up brick wall. In addition, I like Nolan’s consistency and his footwork. With practically all run blocks, Nolan does a great job at getting an explosive first step before engaging with his defender. While Pass blocking, he has a solid dropback and he’s great against power rushers. He does look a bit stiff at times, so that’s something to work on in college.
GVSUs O-Line room is loaded, but I’m confident that Nolan will be able to work his way through the ranks over the next few years.

Nolan places right behind his teammate Dawson in the rankings. This offseason, Nolan has received offers from Grand Valley, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley, and a few others.
Now, let’s discuss the film. Nolan’s biggest asset is undoubtedly his power. On blocks where he’s able to use his leverage, Nolan puts defenders in the dirt. As for his pass sets, I see a lot of room for improvement. In short, Nolan’s footwork needs a lot of work in terms of pass blocking. What makes me optimistic is his offers from GV and Ferris, and I know they wouldn’t offer without taking coaching well plus great measurables. I look forward to seeing Nolan play next season, and he’s a sure-fire GLIAC prospect.
