Notes: Honestly, the fact that they send so much pressure is a testament to how much they very clearly trust these guys in the back end to do what they’re supposed to and be able to hold up in coverage. He makes really quick reads and doesn’t second-guess himself. I really like the burst coming from that safety spot, because it allows him to disguise what he’s doing for that extra step or two that can really confuse an offense. Just seems to be in the right place at the right time too often to be coincidence; he’s got a nose for the football.
Strengths: Physical player when he meets the ball carrier in space. Trusts his instincts — he’s willing to break off an assignment when he sees another opening at the same time as a QB, and can close quickly. Can be a real asset against the run when he’s asked to come up to the line of scrimmage.
Questions / Next Looks: Another one where there really weren’t many weaknesses to point to. A very well rounded player who fits well at his position.
Strong junior season for Olmos sees him jump 25 spots to #88 overall. At 5’10” 165 lbs. he displays a well-rounded skillset that translates in both man and zone concepts. Reads the QB, anticipates throws, and puts himself in position to be a difference maker. Like his ability to bait QB’s into poor throws. Shows clean and efficient footwork with the balance and quickness to stay connected in man coverage, while also playing with strong eye discipline in zone. Plays fast without looking rushed, showing good route recognition and smooth transitions when driving on short/intermediate routes. Aggressive at the catch point, he competes through the hands and attacks the ball in the air. His instincts, coverage versatility, and ball skills make him a reliable option at nickel or free safety.
