Montel Campbell Montel Campbell 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Ballard | 2024 State KY is a player that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out last week. He played a key role in Ballard’s second round win over DuPont Manual. Campbell lines up at safety where he is a true ballhawk in the secondary. He does a great job of breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. Campbell came away with one interception in last week’s game and returned it for a touchdown. He also showed the ability to fill the lane to provide support against the run, leading his team with 13 tackles along with one tackle for loss. Montel doesn’t currently hold any offers but he deserves more attention from college coaches as he definitely has the talent to play at the next level. Campbell and the Bruins will be looking to keep their season alive in a matchup against Central Hardin this week.

Campbell lines up at safety where he is very reliable against both the pass and the run. In pass coverage, he does a great job of reading the play and breaking on the ball with perfect timing to catch interceptions in stride. He returned one interception for a touchdown this past season. Against the run, Campbell does a great job of filling the lane to provide support and finishes his tackles with a ton of physicality. Campbell doesn’t currently hold any offers but he definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level and has received a solid amount of college interest.

When the ball is thrown near him, Campbell has shown the ability to break on the ball with perfect timing to catch interceptions in stride. He returned one interception for a touchdown this season. Campbell also is very reliable against the run, coming downhill quickly to fill the lane. Once he gets to the ball carrier, Campbell does a great job of exploding through contact to secure the tackle. While Campbell doesn’t currently hold any offers, I expect some to come for him soon as he has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play at the next level.

To wrap up my 6A All-Tournament Defense, I have junior defensive back Xavier Campbell Xavier Campbell 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB Beechwood | 2024 State KY ‘] from Ballard. Campbell played a key role in Ballard’s deep playoff run, finishing with ten tackles, two interceptions, and one interception returned for a touchdown. Montel lines up at safety and does a great job of reading the play and breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. Campbell showed the ball skills to catch interceptions in stride and return them for big gains and touchdowns. He also showed reliability against the run, reading the play and coming downhill in a hurry to provide run support. Once he got to the ball carrier, Campbell did a great job of running his feet through contact to secure the tackle in the open field. While he doesn’t currently hold any offers, Campbell will definitely be a player to watch going into his senior year as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
