Last month the Saint Ed’s Eagles won the Division 1 state championship to go back-to-back. A key player on those state championships was Mike Kilbane. Kilbane was a game wrecker for the Eagles defense. He’s a defensive end that can win with power plays or with athleticism. Kilbane has a strong bull rush that he uses to walk offensive linemen into the backfield and then is able to disengage and make plays. He has a get off and athleticism to win the edge as well. He’s plays with heavy and hands and is stout versus the run. Northwestern and Pat Fitzgerald seem to be a great fit for Kilbane, who’s a no-nonsense kind of young man.

The SR DL and future Northwestern Wildcat had a phenomenal game on Saturday as he finished the game with 3 sacks. He plays as a DE. Against the pass, he shows great use of hands with excellent play strength as he walks the OT back before shedding the block. He quickly locates the QB before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, he fires out low and plays with excellent leverage as he takes on and sheds multiple blocks. He takes good angles in pursuit and delivers a very good form tackle behind the LOS for a TFL.
