Continue ReadingThis was a hard-hitting defensive contest that didn’t see a touchdown scored on the day. The only points scored would come on two field goals off of the foot of Saint Ed’s Ben Lavelle Ben Lavelle 6'4" | 190 lbs | P Saint Ed's | 2023 OH . Here are my game balls from yesterday’s game.
Ed’s K/P Ben Lavelle Ben Lavelle 6'4" | 190 lbs | P Saint Ed's | 2023 OH 6’4 190- in close low scoring games a good special teams’ unit is as good as gold. Lavelle was 2 for 3 on field goals booming a 46 yarder through in the first quarter and nailing a 26 yarder in the third quarter. He also had 2 punts that went for a 39.5 yard average. At 6’4 190, Ben, has great size for a kicker and punter. Lavelle is getting D2 and D1 FCS programs jockeying for his services. He’s one of the top specialists in Ohio.
Ed’s DE Michael Kilbane Michael Kilbane 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL St. Edward | 2023 State OH 6’4 230- The Northwestern commit showed why head coach Pat Fitzgerald likely can’t wait to get him on campus. Kilbane used his size and strength to set the edge all game long as the Eagles stymied Moellers stout rushing attack. He also got into the backfield to ring up a sack and a TFL. Kilbane is gap and assignment sound. He does a great job of standing up blockers and then shedding them with heavy hands to make plays.
Ed’s OT Ben Roebuck Ben Roebuck 6'7" | 320 lbs | OL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH 6’7 320- Roebuck is a massive offensive lineman. I first saw him live last year in Ed’s state championship win over Springfield and saw him this offseason at the Ohio State football camp. Ben has definitely gotten stronger this offseason and was a force in Ed’s running attack. He has very impressive feet for a lineman of his size and he plays downhill as he drives defenders off of the ball. He’s simply a big-time offensive lineman, making it easy to see why he has offers from the likes of Tennessee, Pitt, Penn State and Michigan.
Ed’s RB Marvin Bell 5’9 190- Bell is an explosive back with great vision and elusiveness. He’s patient finding the hole and knows when it’s time to put his foot in the ground and get up field. Don’t let his size fool you, he’s a very physical runner. I have to say Im shocked Bell isn’t getting D1 interest. With the playoffs ahead there should be plenty of time to change that.
Ed’s OL Devontae Armstrong Devontae Armstrong 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH and Deontae Armstrong Deontae Armstrong 6'7" | 255 lbs | OL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH – the Armstrong twins manned the left side of the Eagles offensive line. 6’5 1/2 287-pound Devontae lined up at guard and the 6’7 285-pound Deontae lined up at left tackle. Both players have the length and athleticism to play either the guard or tackle position at the P5 level. Their high-level athleticism was on display, especially on a “Student-Body Right” play where both pulled out as lead blockers and formed a human wall to take down everything in their way. As they continue to add weight and strength their ceilings are sky high. They have P5 offers from the likes of Michigan State, Pitt, Penn State among many others.
Ed’s QB Casey Bulluck 6’1 195- Casey Bullock Casey Bullock 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Saint Edward | 2024 State OH (2024) is in his first season as the starter for the green and gold. While Bullock and the Eagles struggled to get any real passing game going on the day, Bullock got it done with his legs rushing for 155 yards on 22 caries. He showed a good grasp of operating the run game and gaining yards on keepers. Bulluck has a background in baseball, and I’ve seen him throw the ball, so I know the arm talent is there. I believe the intangibles are there also as I heard him leading his offense on the sidelines after a crucial turnover on offense. I’m excited to see how Bullock continues to grow and develop as a QB with every game he gets to play.
