Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A quarterback in Forsyth County who has been a multi-year starter already, Walraven saw an offer come his week from the Furman Paladins. The lean 6-foot-5 195-pounder from Cumming threw for 2,131 yards and 19 touchdowns last season while rushing for another 400 yards and seven scores on the ground. His best football is still way ahead of him and he has a chance to have a big final season for the Wolverines in 2025. Don’t be surprised if other offers come his way this summer.

The 6’5 195 QB is a prospect that I have liked since the 1st time I watched his film. Back in January I named him as a “Statewide Breakout Name to Know” and it hasn’t taking long for this 3 year varsity starter to start catching some attention. He has received offers from Eastern Kentucky and Garder-Webb and I would not be surprised to see a few more before the Fall come his way.
Good size at 6’5 and has shown the ability to use his feet to get positive yardage when flushed out of the pocket. The 2x All Region QB accounted for 2500 yards with 26 total TDs last year for the Wolverines. He will have a new cast of characters around him this Fall but I’m confident Walraven can get them back deep in the post season.

Prep Redzone has known about Walraven’s next level potential for a few seasons now. We have him ranked as the #7 overall QB in 2026 and I feel like 2025 is the season he becomes a popular name all over the State. 2x All Region selection that accounted for over 2500 yards last Fall with 26 total TDs. He had 6 multiple passing TD games last Fall.
Outlook
Walraven has great next level size at 6’5 190. A true dual threat QB with a great arm. He will have 3 years varsity starting experience after this season at the States highest level. Elon has already extended an offer and more to come headed into 2025.

Given his physical traits, it’s a bit surprising to see how under the radar Walraven has fallen. He improved as a junior and had his most efficient year yet as a passer, while still being a threat with his legs. Walraven is a true dual threat who runs like a deer in space. He does a good job of stepping up and out to avoid pressure while also directing traffic and pinpointing open receivers while working off-script. He is more of a touch thrower, which I can confirm with several in-person exposures. He is paper thin, so more velocity can be added to his ball as he bulks up. Walraven is a fleet mover with more than enough physical traits for D1 programs to harness.

Walraven is raw and still has his best ball ahead of him, but he had some impressive tape as a sophomore and has some obvious physical upside. He comes in at 6’5 185 and is extremely lanky. Once he hits his peak physically, this is a guy that will only grow his game as an athlete and be more difficult to bring to the ground. As a passer, I saw him in person hit some beautiful touch throws on the move, dropping it in over defenders and right into the basket. On tape, I like how he gets on top of the ball when he fires, which helps throw tight spirals into tight windows without having the ball float. He has good patience as a runner and can carry away from defenders with his size. Keep watch on Walraven when coaches get on the road this offseason.
