Velazquez plays that hybrid SS/LB role for Tottenville and does a great job coming downhill in the box. Velazquez shows good upfield burst and does a good job shooting gaps on an angle. Many of his plays against the run-on tape come against zone runs where he can penetrate the backfield.
On tape, you also see some promising pass rush reps and reps in zone coverage in the hook/curl area of the field. Velazquez may be a DIII prospect because of his measurables, but he brings a versatile skill set to the Pirates’ defense.
