I got to see Mendez over the summer and I was very impressed. Mendez going into his junior year, he has started since his freshman year. He isn’t the biggest player but he has a great skill set. Mendez was dominant in 1v1 matchups at showcases and he’s provided production in games as well. Last year he had 5 sacks and was one of the teams top lineman. This year he’ll be in for a huge junior season.

Easily one of the top defensive linemen at the event. Mendez built off a good sophomore year with a great way to start the summer. Quickness and a big burst are what I saw from Mendez. He was one of the top edge rushers at this event. Good hands, solid body control, and was ultra-competitive. All of these traits allowed him to be dominant.

showcased a couple camps I have seen him at that he is a terror to block on the edge. The Moore Catholic DE is really explosive with good quickness and speed. The pass rush moves are there as well as the motor to fight through and win against tougher offensive lineman. Mendez Jr has really nice ability to stay low and keep balance when cornering to the QB. Overall, Mendez has one of the highest ceilings in this class on the edge and is a new addition to our rankings.

was one of the best C/O 2026 players at camp. Mendez Jr was incredible as an edge rusher and showed a few really solid pass rush moves. I really thought Mendez Jr had underrated strength for his size and did an incredible job of using his hands to keep lineman at a distance. Mendez Jr has one of the highest ceilings amongst the defensive lineman at camp and did an incredible job having strong reps throughout individual drills and 1v1s.

. One of the lighter d-linemen on the showcase’s roster, this 5’11” 195lb plays line a demon off the edge. Aside from his quick get off, he is tight to corners when he rounds them. He has very quick reaction to movement and was coachable. When given feedback by coaches, he immediately applied that feedback to his next rep. Mendez also used his hands frequently and activated his hips to gain power and effectively flipped them to get around the edge.
As he gets older, I am curious to see whether he stays at d-line or if he moves to the second level of the defense. Either way, he will continue to be a twitchy player that we will certainly track moving forward.
