Thompson is another player I saw early on in the season if my notes and memory correct me he had a knee brace on vs Bishop Moore a very good catholic school from Florida – I thought he had a solid game but the tape shows a complete picture when you see him against other competition in the PSAL.

Thompson is an EDGE/OLB body type who plays more of a DE position for Tottenville – I really like his length off the edge, he uses his arms as a pass rusher well with a strong rip move you see on tape. You don’t see a lot of reps where his bend can be on display but there are some flashes of good bend as a pass rusher as well. Right now, I view him as a pass rush specialist. We need to see more tape showing good pad level and leverage against the run, but there are a lot of promising traits in his game.

Thompson, who plays an EDGE role, could develop into more of an OLB play type at the next level. Thompson, who is 6’2, looks like a long, lean prospect with a strong wingspan. He comes around the edge with some bend. Even though you see it more against the run than some true pass-rush reps, he is very active with his hands and feet, which is both a positive in terms of his motor and the fact he is trying to get through blocks, but there could be some more refinement in his hand use, footwork, and overall body control.

Thompson is an OLB/EDGE prospect right now that will likely add some weight and get to DE size. He was solid setting the edge for Tottenville this season. Thompson wins with his upfield burst; he shoots gaps really well and is an effective tackler in the backfield, consistently wrapping up. Most of his wins come with his quickness so adding more strength and violence to his game as an upperclassman will make him a more complete defensive end.
