Ponatoski is the reigning Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year in both football and baseball, and recently committed to Kentucky. Ponatoski is advanced in his progressions and has exceptional ball velocity. A national riser lately, Ponatoski holds high regard in our state.

Ponatoski is a superb athlete and had the highest Pro Day score of the day with a 49. He had a good performance on day one as well with his ability to throw from different arm angles and drive the ball up the field.

Ponatoski is an impressive athlete and was the Gatorade Player of the Year in football and baseball. The baseball player in him was apparent at times on Tuesday with his ability to throw from different arm angles. He can get the ball up the field nicely and was consistently good throughout the drills I saw him in.

Archbishop Moeller | 2026

, Ohio’s Mr. Football and Gatorade football player of the year, slots in as our third-ranked quarterback for 2026. Ponatoski throws absolute ropes. His ball velocity would fit in with P4 level quarterbacks and he does it with controlled accuracy. He has an aggressive and active processor, and he loves to hit boundary hole shots against cover 2. He looks for up to three progressions per play when he has time and can roll out well to buy time to get the ball downfield. He can get “happy feet” at some times, but he throws well off balance and can make up for his pocket movement. I know a state championship runner up result will fire Ponatoski and Moeller up, so I look forward to seeing him lead Moeller for one last time in 2025.

You can’t get a much better performance than Matt Ponatoski. The junior quarterback was 13-of-18 for 431 yards and six touchdowns (most of which came in the first half) in Moeller’s big 49-10 victory over Centerville. The gunslinger visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ big game against Michigan on Saturday and will surely be a name to know on the recruiting trail.

Matt had an excellent game in week two as he completed 24 of 36 passes (66.7 pct) for 362 yds and 4 TD as he led the Archbishop Moeller Fighting Crusaders to a 42-18 victory over Bishop Dwenger to improve to 2-0 for the season. He makes great decisions as he finds the open man and delivers the ball with excellent accuracy on short, intermediate and deep passes placing the ball on the correct shoulder maximizing YAC. He exhibits excellent arm strength showing the ability to deliver the ball with very good velocity 40+ yds with ease. He shows great accuracy passing the ball while on the move as he delivers an accurate strike while rolling out.

Matt is a two sport athlete for Moeller where he is one of the state’s top baseball prospects. As a quarterback, he shows great mobility and awareness navigating in and outside the pocket, making off-balance throws on the run. The top shortstop/pitcher’s arm strength shows on the football field, zipping balls into tight windows and putting touch and deep passes down the field. He has a very fluid and quick release that helps him get the ball off fast to avoid pressure. With him already being on high schools radars for baseball, I also expect more schools to gain interest in him as a football player after reopening his recruitment.
