Tyler Graham | Prep Redzone Scout
The offers and visits are at an all time high for Hunter, and it’s not hard to see why. The 6’3 gunslinger has the frame and ability to translate nicely to the next level. He was the vocal leader for his team, and absolutely did his thing on day 1.
His arm is live, especially pushing the ball downfield. He was able to make difficult deep shots and layered throws look routine. He scanned the field quickly, going through his reads until he found something to exploit, and then use torque to deliver absolute strikes, right on the money. Hunter is an absolute dude, and will give his team a great chance to make a run on Championship Sunday.

McLaughlin had a strong day. He has the perfect frame to continue to grow and fill out. Hunter has a lot of whip in his arm and generates great velocity. I love how the ball comes off his hand. He generates great spin. His ball placement on the day was strong. He’s as hard of working and competitive kid as you’re going to find. He’ll have a big opportunity to make a big impression on D1 coaches this summer and I think he will.

Hunter is the current top candidate for the QB1 spot in the 2029 class. He’s balled out at every level and has been seen at and rewarded with a D1 offer and several D1 visits. I want to see his talent shine on Saturday.

While, Hunter was one of the younger quarterbacks in attendance, that didn’t stop him from showing off high end traits that would lead him to the showcase MVP. He showed the ability to drive the ball and spin as well. He was on point with his throws all day long. What really shocked me was when he decided to call his own plays in the final drive portion of the showcase. He then called a great drive and executed it for a touchdown. Really impressive for a young man who hasn’t even stepped foot into high school. McLaughlin has a very bright future.

Picked up an offer from Sacramento State. Has a quick release and a good trigger. Very tall. Has good footwork and weight transfer. Throws with good velocity over the middle of the field and puts good zip on the ball.
