PSR Showcase Event Coverage: O-linemen That Caught My Eye Part IV
In a lineup full of “Monstar” sized contemporaries, Alvarez was a prospect that I initially missed. However, once...
Alvarez stands out as the most technically sound tackle in the class. His ability to stay low in both run blocking and pass protection separates him. He fires off the ball with significant leverage, gaining early control in run sets. He keeps his body compact in pass protection, maintaining balance and staying square to defenders. At his size, that level of consistency is rare.
Beyond his talent, Alvarez excels in tandem. Playing correct tackle, he works seamlessly with his guard in both pass protection and run schemes. He stays alert to stunts, blitzes, and changing rush lanes, constantly adjusting to keep his side clean. He executes double teams well in the run game, then smoothly peels off to take out second-level defenders. His awareness and execution make him an anchor on the offensive line.
Despite flying under the radar, Alvarez is one of the more polished linemen in the state. He holds offers from West Virginia and UMass, but that list should grow as more programs recognize his versatility and technical prowess.

had film that I certainly enjoyed. With two seasons yet to play, expect him to rise in the rankings over the course of those two seasons. First, Alvarez does an outstanding job weaponizing the snap count, using it to his advantage to bully down linemen. His bully tendencies are only augmented by his tendency to fire out low and hard. Quick feet are also a big part of his game, making him able to easily reach playside and handle speed rushers alike. Should he get cross faced, expect his matchup to take a dive due to Alvarez’s instincts to bury his matchup with a down block. Hand placement is important to Alvarez too, as we see his hands stay tight into his opponent’s chest. Lastly, Alvarez does an outstanding job finishing is double teams before coming up to seal the second level – often not having to do much of it due to the displacement he achieves.

is an aggressive offensive linemen who weaponizes the snap count. In doing so, he fires out low, especially when down blocking. Alvarez also has quick feet that allows him to handle speed rushers off the edge. The same quick feet allow him to dominate when reach blocking play side. As opponents try to hit an inside move, we see Alvarez burying them with a down block. Alvarez’s hands tight are in pass protection. On double teams, Alvarez finishes his double teams before climbing to the next level.
In a lineup full of “Monstar” sized contemporaries, Alvarez was a prospect that I initially missed. However, once competition started it was hard not to sing his praises. Where Alvarez excels is in the technical aspect of offensive line play. He had some of the event’s top form for o-line play in terms of his posture and techniques. He is an effective puncher in pass protection. Above all else though, Alvarez competed with outstanding leverage due to his ability to bend and lower his pad level relative to that of his matchup.
