About Mason
Expert Analysis
Andy Pham | Prep Redzone Scout
Mason climbs four spots and, after a fantastic Freshman season, transfers from West Jordan to Mountain Ridge where he should elevate his game even more. Mason has good size, and he is a lineman who is light on his feet. He can work inside or outside and has the athleticism to be used in the pulling game and getting to the second level. He’s an exciting prospect and has all the tools to be a P4 prospect.

Mason has an excellent frame and size. He can work as a blindside tackle if needed to slide inside as an interior lineman. He moves well, is quick on his feet and has good lateral agility and him transitioning full time to a blindsided tackle would arguably be his best position. He is a physical lineman and excels at run blocking as he’ll get to the second level with ease. He does well in pass protection and holds up to speed and bull rushers. Plenty of traits to like and he’ll garner Power-Four offers.

Mason has been exceptional and stepped in day one and locked down a starting position along the Offensive Line. He has an exceptional base, has good footwork, and is a player with great size for the position. He projects as a blindside tackle and should garner some D1 looks.

Tavita was a huge get for West Jordan, and he has a shot to make an immediate impact for the varsity squad due to his ready-made skill set. He is fundamentally ready and showcases a great tool set to be a plug-and-play lineman immediately. He should make an impact on Thursday nights, and should suit up on Fridays and find a way to get on the field. I’d argue he’s a top 3 offensive lineman on the team right now. He’s versatile enough to line up anywhere along the line, and that should further help him get on the field early.
