On a Solon roster stocked with talent, getting overshadowed is not uncommon. A case can be made that Buck falls into the bucket. The Spartans needed contributions all around the field in remaining unbeaten until the Class 3A state semifinals this season. Buck’s output was important, to be sure. The junior posted 20.5 tackles with 14 of them being solo stops. He had 2.5 tackles for loss and forced a fumble. He added 148 yards (6.2 YPC) and a touchdown rushing. Buck’s 11th-grade highlights give us a peak inside how he succeeds. As a running back, it’s a downhill style with physicality in the finishing of carries. He packs that punch on defense, where he diagnoses offense well and flies to the football.
