Smith is heading from the Catholic League to the Ivy League. The Chaminade prospect, will be taking his talents to Tufts next season. Smith was an elite defender, who helped the Flyers have a dominant defense this season.
Standing at 6’1″ 230 pounds, Smith has a good build for the EDGE position. He has solid size and can also be used as an OLB in pass rush schemes. He is a ball seeking missile, and displays a massive blend of strength and a high motor, which allows him to make plays across the field. Tufts is getting a smart player, who has an elite IQ.
Congratulations Luca!

Smith has accumulated multiple NESCAC offers after an impressive season with eight sacks, five pass deflections and three defensive touchdowns. He is a big playmaker and is clutch when needed. He has a quick motor and a twitchy first step which pairs with his good IQ and allows him to find the backfield on most plays.
Smith is a wrecking ball for the Chaminade defense and is looking to follow up a solid Junior season which should see smith find more college interest this fall.

The leader for Chaminade on the defensive side of the ball. Last year the Flyers defense was incredible. They were terrific against some great AAA offenses, along with the seniors, Smith produced at a high level as a junior. He’s a fast and twitchy player and proved that he could make big plays. He had 3 defensive touchdowns, 8 sacks and 5 pass deflections. He can make an impact at OLB or DE, he’s always around the ball and has picked up several NESCAC offers.

Smith, who I believe has been to PRZ camp, was a player wh,o coming into this season, did not have any film out – I was able to see him play vs. Kellenberg and got a look at his season tape, and there are some really solid things there. Smith plays an EDGE/OLB-type role and likely fits there at the next level, especially if he can continue to get bigger and stronger. He plays with a good motor; I thought his best reps came when he showed some explosive get-off and a strong first punch, knocking back OL or, in some cases, blocking RBs/TEs.
Smith does his best work rushing the passer, I was impressed with the fact he put some quality Special Teams reps in tape but a strong debut tape from Smith.

Since Chaminade rarely brings up sophomores, it seems like they always have a few juniors who have monster breakout seasons.

was dominant on Chaminade’s JV team last season. He had a ton of TFLs and was one of the top players in that division. Smith is an explosive player that has excelled this offseason.
