during a loss to Bishop McDevitt in their season-opener on the road. I didn’t say much on his performance at the time, but I was impressed with how fast he got the ball out to his receivers and the poise he showed under a tough situation. Fast forward to this past Friday night against Bergen Catholic, and he completes 13-of-16 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns. That’s a quality opponent and it looks like he did a good job again of getting the ball out quicly to his playmakers.
Luca is on the smaller side but the Good Counsel offense looked like it was on point against BC. He works from a balanced drop and gets the ball out on time on intermediate throws shown in the highlights (hitches, crossing routs, and shots down the field after play-action). He has a compact release, accuracy, and good-enough arm strength to drive the ball outside the numbers. There’s a lot of timing throwns and if he sees that the first read is open, it looks like Luca is taking it.
It’s a small sample size, but GC looked pretty good on offense with him as the quarterback. Future is looking great at that position from the looks of it.

was very impressive during the quarterback drills. Although Luca was not named a top performer he showcased his amazing throwing mechanics, how he can step up reset and deliver a beautiful ball on the money. As I watched Luca this past Saturday he plays with a chip on his shoulder and you can tell he put a lot of work into his craft to get where he is today. Our Lady of Good Counsel has a stud at the quarterback position and I cant wait to see what he will do this upcoming season.
