In a huge 35-3 win over Pickerington Central, Gahanna Lincoln running back Leon Cummings shined the brightest. Cummings is a very talented running back who is hard to bring down. Quick and decisive to the hole, he is a great north-and-south runner who wastes little time getting vertical and maintains elite contact balance. He finished with 21 carries for 176 yards and one touchdown; don’t be surprised if college teams start dialing his number sooner rather than later.

Cummings is a legit home-run threat tailback with good change-of-direction. He loves contact, bounces off tackles like a pinball and finishes forward. He is relentless, frequently requiring multiple defenders to bring him down. After camping at Louisville, he picked up his first offer from the Cardinals last weekend.

Leon is one of the most slept-on runners in the state, in my view. He’s an explosive runner with great vision for holes in front of him. He’s got great contact balance and keeps his legs churning in stalled piles. He’s got great footwork, letting him cut quickly and stay on his feet after making moves. He is also a weapon in the screen game as his explosiveness and agility are hard to bring down. I have a feeling that Leon will make moves in the recruiting game this season.

Leon has boomed onto the scene in the early part of the season for Gahanna Lincoln. He’s a bowling ball as a runner. He’s very hard to bring down for a single defender, and if he’s in open space, good luck. He’s got quick feet and runs with great pad level. He can also be used out of the backfield on wide screens to get out in open space. Leon has exceptional potential, and I look forward to what he can build up for the rest of the season.
