An open-field tackler to boot, Mastin thrives either as a man-press corner or in zone, using his burst and speed to find the ball in their air or track down a ball-carrier in the flat.

A vital piece to the offensive and special teams success as well for the Cougars, Mastin is first and foremost a corner. A smooth mover who can flip his hips, Mastin’s speed also allows him to recover if he happens to get beat in the passing game. That, and it makes him a threat to score any time he touches the ball, including as a DB if he snags an interception.
Being so integral to what Kennedy does in all three phases, Mastin may not get much rest this coming season.

A speedster in the slot and on kickoffs, Mastin will bring versatility to the Cougar offense by way of jet sweeps, bubble screens, slants over the middle and more. On punts last season, Mastin returned three for 145 yards and a touchdown — an average of 48.3 yards per return with a long of 67 yards.
If Mastin adds some weight to his frame, he could continue to rise up recruiting boards and find a spot on a D1 roster. With 4.39 40-yard breakaway speed, Mastin’s ability to outrun opposing defenses is undeniable.
