Expert Analysis
Eliot Clough | Prep Redzone Scout
A converted quarterback to wide receiver, Boyd will be critical in the Cougars passing game this fall, and he showed why on Wednesday morning. The six-foot, 180 pound wide out not only made catches in traffic, but high-pointed a deep-ball over the top of a defensive back for what would’ve been 30-yard gain. He’ll be expected to produce much more than he did last season, and will be a key cog in the machine of the Kennedy passing attack, with the potential for a trick play or two as a passer.

Boyd settled in off of 42nd street as a sophomore after joining the Cougars from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High. He saw action at receiver, catching two passes for 48 yards. His speed and elusiveness keep open the possibility of a position switch but those skills work well behind center. Boyd possess a strong arm and an ability to throw accurately on the move. He keeps plays alive with his legs and stresses defenses with his threat to run. Kennedy graduated its starting quarterback, so the door is open for Boyd to walk through and rise up the rankings.
