twice this offseason on the 7v7 circuit, and he impressed me at both stops. He is a smaller, but lean athlete with a big arm. He is a true drive ball thrower with the velocity and spin to whistle by the ears of defenders and get right up on his receivers. Simply put, this kid is well-equipped to push the ball vertically. Carver is replacing a graduating senior at QB, so the window of opportunity will open for Tyus this fall.

is a talented passer from Carver who’s shown some impressive arm talent as a sophomore.
“There’s a ton to love with Tyus’ arm talent. He has impressive mechanics, throws a tight spiral, and can accurately place the ball all over the field. I’m really impressed with the velocity on some of his intermediate throws- he can fire passes into some tight windows and get the ball to his targets incredibly quick.
Tyus is just as impressive throwing downfield. He has some serious arm strength he can use to push the ball deep for huge gains. I’m really impressed on the accuracy of some of his deeper throws- he can make some jaw dropping passes that’ll hurt any defense.”
Tyus has a bright future ahead for Carver. I think we’ll be seeing a lot more from him this upcoming season. Make sure you watch some of his film below:

For those who have followed along, Tyus was a top performer amongst the QBs at our Smoky Mountain Summit last weekend. Fast forward to today, and he is proving that last weekend wasn’t a fluke. I actually thought he drove the ball better today, firing the ball with truly impressive velocity and spin to fit the ball into tight windows. Just Throw Select won the championship last weekend behind his arm, and they have a chance to go back-to-back if he can stay on his hot streak.

Tyus has been well-covered since the weekend, so here is a reiteration of my write-up from yesterday:
“I thought Tyus played with the most confidence of any 15U QB that participated. He is a lean, cut athlete who looks like he has another growth spurt lying ahead of him. He is best as a drive ball thrower, both in and outside of the pocket. He consistently rifled the ball into tight windows and looked more comfortable when he could throw it with more velocity. Still, there were spurts of good touch over the top, and as that part of his game continues to develop, his game should take another step forward.”
