Archer is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after defensive linemen in the state, with an offer list that is growing by the day. He showed his versatility this year, which is part of the reason he rose in our rankings. Mainly a big body with elite athleticism in the past, Archer has started to grow as a football player, staying gap sound and doing his 1/11th on the defense. The upside here is tantilizing and he’s a candidate to continue to rise in our rankings in future updates.

Archer is absolutely massive, but moves extremely well. In fact, while he’s listed as a nose guard, he often played edge rusher for Seventy-First, something you almost never see from a 320-pounder. His first step looks more like a 240-pounder, and he has obvious strength at his size and length.

is everything you look for in a true Power-4 defensive line prospect — size, strength, explosion, and a level of dominance that jumps off the field from the first snap. He’s been literally unblockable at times this season, overwhelming offensive linemen with violent hands and a powerful lower body that allows him to reset the line of scrimmage on demand. Archer doesn’t just make plays — he destroys plays before they ever develop.
Tonight, under the playoff lights, expect him to show exactly why he’s one of the most coveted recruits in the state. His ability to command double teams, collapse pockets, and blow up run lanes will be the foundation of Scotland County’s defensive game plan. If he’s winning early and often, Terry Sanford’s offense is going to be in for a long night. Archer has the chance to take this game over and prove once again that he’s built for the next level.

is undeniably one of the top prospects in the country for his class, regardless of position. At 6’5″ and 320 lbs, the junior is an imposing physical presence, and his size alone makes him stand out on the field. However, it’s not just his stature that makes Archer special—he’s consistently demonstrated his strength and conditioning, often leading or being near the top in drills for his position group.
His work ethic and physical tools have already earned him recognition, with the University of North Carolina extending an offer earlier in the day. Archer’s combination of size, athleticism, and drive make him a rare talent, and he’s well on his way to being one of the most sought-after recruits in his class.

A two-way player with several recent offers, Archer is ranked by some recruiting services as an offensive lineman, probably because of his size. However, he’s a rare blend of power and speed on the interior of the defensive line. Despite his height, he plays with good leverage and pad-level. That’s the biggest factor for us keeping him as an interior defensive lineman. He’s extremely disruptive and is likely a future Power Four player.

John was a huge part of the 3a championship game remaining so close throughout. Archer was arguably the most impactful defensive player of the game. He caused a double team throughout the day, and whenever West Charlotte didn’t double him, he made the play. He has a bright future ahead of him as he should be one of the top prospects in his class not only in north carolina but across the country.

John made a huge impact all night long last Friday night against the run heavy Jacksonville team. The sophomore is the anchor up front, playing in the middle over the center most of the time, so everything begins with John. He’s constant pressure and need for double team will be a key factor in the championships

John was an extreme handful for the offensive line of JH Rose last Friday. He was doubled team almost on every snap and if he wasn’t, the play would be disrupted by him or end in a tackle for loss. Archer is one of the top prospects in the class of 2027 and its clear to see why. He has elite size, speed and toughness that power 4 schools dream of on their roster.
