Huff’s mentality to the position is old school. This is represented in his throwback style and ability to be a bell cow back. Huff consistently seeks contact and finishes through defenders rather than around them. With excellent lower-body strength and contact balance he’s ultra effective in short-yardage or red-zone situations
Though Huff is a power back by nature – nimble feet for a bigger back. He also has solid build up speed when he gains steam which makes him a hell raiser in space. Lastly he’s shown a willingness and skill to block. His ability to clear path ways with speed, leverage, and hand placement ups his gives offenses flexibility in multi-back formations and increases his value as an every down back.

There were several talented running backs in attendance, but 2027 Auburn RB Jaylen Huff was one of the more intriguing prospects I watched throughout the day. Huff has a well-developed build and looked the part physically from the moment he stepped on the field. He backed that up with solid testing numbers, posting a 4.47 shuttle and 4.7 40, while moving fluidly throughout drills. What caught my attention most was how comfortable Huff looked operating in space for a bigger-bodied back. He flashed good receiving ability during drills and 1-on-1s, showing the potential to be a factor in the passing game as well as between the tackles. Defenders had a difficult time matching his cutting ability and change of direction in isolated situations, which helped him create separation throughout the workout.

is a talented ATH who is now set to make his debut at Auburn this fall.
Huff was a weapon for Smiths Station the last two years, lining up and producing at RB, WR, and as a kick returner on special teams. He plays with a ton of speed, twitch, and vision to consistently create explosive plays all over the field and is a hard player to stop.
I’m most impressed with Huff’s skills out of the backfield- he’s patient behind the line of scrimmage and has some serious talent in the open field. Huff can easily change his direction and make defenders miss to rack up big plays on the ground.
He uses the same skills on kickoff returns, consistently finds open lanes and making his way upfield to put his offense in great starting field position.
Check out Huff’s tape below, he’s a talented prospect set for a big junior season at Auburn this fall.

Listed at a generous 5-foot-7 and 130-pounds, Huff certainly isn’t going to wow with his size, but he has some serious shake and wiggle in his game. Dangerous athlete that can be lined up at a multitude of positions, in many different offensive sets. A tireless worker off the field as well. Size will dictate a lot here.
