Pyatt is the starting the season off with a bang! The 6’2 225-pound commit to Cal had 10 total tackles (4 solo, 6 assisted), 1 TFL, and 1 sack. Pyatt has very good athletic ability and it goes in tandem with his very good range across the field. In week 0, he was blitzing a lot off the edge, and was dominate. Pyatt has very good get off speed and block shedding. He uses his elite strength to run through blockers with ease. Very good tackler. He stops the ball carrier instantly. Pyatt had a big 4th down stop as well. QB was in a scramble drill, he ran from his coverage, and sacked the QB instantly. He has very good read and reactionary speed. He can lock up defenders in a zone, blitz the QB, or stop the run. He’s the real deal and Cal is getting a good one.

Pyatt is continuing his domination streak against opposing offenses. The 6’2 215-pound junior had 17 total tackles (10 solo, 7 assisted), 3 TFL, and 1 sack. He was all over the field, making big plays for his defense. Pyatt used his very good athletic ability to chase down the ball carriers. He has very competitive toughness, by assisting his teammates in tackles or playing through the whistle. Pyatt identified which gaps to rush, meeting the RB in the backfield. He tackles towards the center of gravity, wrapping up the ball carrier and pulling down. I’m continued to be impressed with Pyatt’s performances, week in and week out. He’s one of the top linebackers in Colorado, and the tape speaks for itself. Colleges need to be looking his way.

Pyatt has been on fire to start the season. Measuring in at 6’2 215 pounds, he currently leads all Colorado players in tackles, averaging 15 per game. In week 2 against Fairview, Pyatt had 16 total tackles (9 solo, 7 assisted), 3 TFL, 0.5 sack, and 3 QB hurries. Pyatt has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, and good change of direction. Pyatt is a hungry dog, consistently creating plays across the field. His very good strength stood out to me. A couple examples include: he shed 2 blocks and still tackled the ball carrier; he also pushed the center 5-10 yards back from the line of scrimmage with his powerful legs and drive. Pyatt is a phenomenal run stopper who plugs up the middle. He IDs which gaps to rush through resulting in a TFL. He’ll use a low pad level to get leverage against the OL or TE. Pyatt also has the athletic ability to cover WRs/ TEs in pass coverage. Pyatt is an impressive player who looks to continue demolishing the competition.

Pyatt has been on the radar and is looking to have another breakout season. He can lineup at any LB position and dominate. In the running game he has great vision and is able to read his keys quickly getting into the backfield to make a stop. He plays fast and is a hard hitter, being able to dislodge the football at times. In the passing game he has the speed to cover the faster TE/RB/Slot guys and can break up passes. He takes good pursuit angles, having a motor and being able to rally to the ball and get in on the play.

Pyatt had a great season for Arvada West in his sophomore season. He measures in 6’1 200 pounds. Throughout the season, he accounted for 99 total tackles (55 solo, 44 assist) 17 TFL , 4 sacks, 2 FF, 4 pass deflections. Pyatt has a good athletic ability due to good speed, acceleration, and solid change of direction. Good strength to overpower offensive line. Demonstrates good mental processing in multiple ways. He’ll identify the gaps and rush through them. He’s patient when rushing the gaps/tackling. Not getting too overaggressive and missing the guy. Last but not least, he’ll follow the QB’s eyes. Pyatt has good competitive toughness. He’ll fight through the blocks to make play, and plays after the whistle. Pyatt rushes the QB a lot, and his team will put him out on the edge or on the line of scrimmage. This has helped Pyatt develop a good spin move to add to his toolbelt. He has a low pad level to out leverage the offensive line. He’s a strong tackler, and excels in the run game. Excited to see his development over the next couple of seasons.

He is an absolute menace with a nose for the football and the ability to fly around the field, causing problems for the offense. Pyatt is a player that will be on everyone’s radar for the next couple of years. He is a high energy player that has a knack for being around the football. He brings the intensity on defense and he uses his strength to driving blockers back or he can beat them with speed to make the play in the backfield. He has good vision and instinct, being able to see the play, read and react quickly. He is also a player that can make an impact on special teams as well. He has a lot of potential and will be helping a major D1 program down the road.
