and his recruiting over this offseason. I think Davis may have the most upside of any defensive lineman in the state. Very disruptive with great size, a quick first step and a nose for the ball, Davis is an extremely disruptive pass rusher and takes great angles against the run. Has a chance to be a legitimate blue-chip prospect.
Davis holds a Power 4 offer from Iowa and is getting interest from several others. He plays defensive end for the Middies but should kick inside at the next level. He definitely flashes some high-level traits. He has some quick twitch to his game. He has the strength to stalemate blockers at the point of attack in the run game. I think his best fit is as a rush tackle in a penetrating defense where he can just get off and shoot gaps and be athletic. He has the bend and the pad level to make it really tough on blockers and could live in the backfield. Davis also has a great motor and plays to the whistle.
Has huge upside as a prospect. Very good pass rusher with an explosive first step. Good edge speed, first-step quickness, can fire forward nicely off the line of scrimmage, excelled in one-on-ones, has a good counter move and does a good job of attacking half his man. Good twitch for his size and strength. Good bulk in his chest and thighs.
Every once in a while I come across a film that makes me stop in my tracks, and I almost feel bad for the other kids on the field. That’s what happened recently, when a coach reached out to me about Davis. Standing 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Davis was a big reason for Franklin Junior High winning the Southwestern Buckeye League championship. Located just 45 minutes north of Cincinnati, he’s special combination of size, speed and power that leads him to be the best kid on the field more times than not. In talking with a local coach, he said Davis has more FBS potential and ability at this stage, then several other previous athletes he coaches, he ended up at the FBS level. I’ve listed him as an Athlete because where he ends up playing is still up in the air. If I had to pick right now, I’d say he ends up as a Tight End/Defensive End based off skill set. However, landing at Outside Linebacker shouldn’t be ruled out just yet.
