Sadly, McCalla suffered an injury during his senior season and only played six games, but he still posted 115 rushes for 502 yards and 9 total TDs on the ground and through the air. I’m a big fan of his vision, and he’s also shifty and will put his head down to run over defenders. Plays with a low pad level and also has good hands out of the backfield. Still uncommitted but has a DII offer from MSU-Moorhead.

Jacob turned in an eye-catching performance in a conference win over Blaine. The senior running back was responsible for 127 yards and a score on 31 carries, taking over the game on the ground. McCalla has great vision and is very patient when waiting to find his hole to accelerate through. Once he gets there, he is exceptional at cutting from side to side to find his opening to make a solid run a game-changing run. Jacob and Minnetonka will take on Maple Grove this Friday in one of the top games of the week.

McCalla has good vision and patience at the line of scrimmage. He does a great job of waiting for his blocks to develop, then he makes his cut and explodes through the hole. His balance is a significant asset as his ability to navigate through the trash and stay upright while bouncing off tacklers. He is more effective avoiding tacklers than running them over, but defenders need to wrap up if they want to get him down. McCalla is not just a threat in the running game; he hurts defenses in the passing game – especially in the flat and on screens. He is also a willing and effective pass blocker.
