. We got some memorable sneak previews of the shifty power back in 2025 during the Skippers‘ state playoff run. Running came in as the Skippers‘ third-leading rusher in 2025, tallying 42 rushes for 283 yards (6.7 YPC) and two TDs against Big School defenses and competition as an underclassman getting his first taste of varsity ball.
Running can see and exploit space, anticipate and utilize the cutback well, and he shows off a bouncy one-cut ability and impressive lateral juice. Running, as a sophomore, demonstrated excellent power, toughness, and carry-to-carry fight to stay upright, break tackles, and gain that extra yard or two that makes a difference in a scoring series. All against 6A defenses and defenders as well. Also displayed effective and explosive burst and big-time flashes of body control. It was impressive how he can spin through a tackle attempt and gator roll but ride the momentum and stay upright, sometimes I’m putting a hand down to balance himself. Play low as well.
Running, especially behind Tonka’s powerful rising OL, looks like a safe bet for 1,000+ yard rushing season in 2026. Also a good LAX player for the Skippers‘ as well.
