Max was unstoppable in Stillwater’s week 2 win over East Ridge. The D1 basketball commit racked up 346 yards through the air and another 54 on the ground. That resulted in 4 passing touchdowns and an additional rushing TD. He did this very efficiently, completing 26 of his 38 passes and averaging a little under 7 yards per carry. Shikenjanski is a magician with the ball in his hands and is constantly turning dead plays or losses into gains and big plays. He is super quick and can make tough throws on the run and in the pocket. He is easily one of the best dual-sport athletes in the state and has the Ponies off to a 2-0 start.
Highlights
Milos turned in another exceptional outing in the Friday night win over Blaine. He completed 19 out of his 24 passing attempts, tallying 194 passing yards and a pair of passing touchdowns, both to Joran Thomsen Joran Thomsen 6’2″ | 190 lbs | WR Minnetonka | 2024 MN . He also gained 19 yards on 4 carries on the ground. The junior quarterback has very fluid mechanics and looks very comfortable in the pocket. Minnetonka is off to a great 2-0 start this season and will matchup with a top 3 team in the class this week as they host Maple Grove on Friday night. This is my second time featuring Spasojevic and I do not expect it to be the last!
Jackson Hettwer
Jackson Hettwer
Jackson had an incredible performance this past Friday! The junior quarterback and Coon Rapids took on Buffalo at home and came out with a statement win. Hettwer attempted 26 passes, completing 16 of them, leading to 337 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air. He did not see varsity time last season, but looks very poised and comfortable with the ball in his hands so far this season. The Cardinals are hot with Jackson behind center and look to advance to 3-1 with a Friday night matchup with Elk River at home. This will be one of the top matchups coming up this week and
Carson has gotten off to an electric start to his senior season. The Iowa State commit ran all over rival Lakeville North in a 34-0 blowout conference win. He finished the game with 254 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries, showing off his elite combination of size and strength. Along with that, he also added a solid 37 yards through the air on 2 catches. Hansen and Lakeville South have been extremely dominant this year and they will match up with Eden Prairie on Friday who is the #2 team in 6A. Get your popcorn ready.

Damien was a star in Brainerd’s week 2 win over Moorhead. The senior could not be stopped on his way to 187 yards and a touchdown on 27 rushes. He is a very strong back who strives in absorbing contact as well as having that breakaway speed that makes him so special. Bentho has had a magnificent start to his senior season with this being his second performance over 150 yards already this year. The Warriors will host Sartell-St. Stephen in a conference duel this Friday.
Jacob turned in an eye-catching performance in a conference win over Blaine. The senior running back was responsible for 127 yards and a score on 31 carries, taking over the game on the ground. McCalla has great vision and is very patient when waiting to find his hole to accelerate through. Once he gets there, he is exceptional at cutting from side to side to find his opening to make a solid run a game-changing run. Jacob and Minnetonka will take on Maple Grove this Friday in one of the top games of the week.
Highlights
KhiJohnn is currently the leading receiver in the state of Minnesota and if he keeps turning types of performances like this past Friday, I do not expect that to change. In the win over Buffalo, he totaled 11 catches for 286 yards (26 YPC) and scored a pair of touchdowns. To add onto all of that, he returned a kickoff 95 yards all the way for a touchdown right before halftime. He has all the tools of an elite pass catcher, as he is an exceptional route runner, has blazing speed, and has great hands. KhiJohnn and Coon Rapids will go up against Elk River this Friday.
Highlights
Tanner Schmidt
Tanner Schmidt
Stillwater has been one of the best passing teams this season so far and Tanner is their leading receiver. On this past Friday, he tallied 153 receiving yards on 8 catches and that resulted in 2 scores for Schmidt in the 3rd quarter to put the game away in the big win over East Ridge. The Ponies are hot to start the season and look like one of the top teams in class 6A. They will go on the road to take on Roseville where they look to go 3-0 in their first three games.
Eli Paulson
Eli Paulson
The final performance that caught my eye was Eli’s game versus Forest lake this past Thursday. He caught 8 passes, turning in 160 yards and a pair of 35+ yard scores in the 3rd quarter. Paulson did a great job working after the catch, making defenders miss and extending good plays into great plays. Tornadoes have an away matchup with Burnsville this Friday where Eli will look to replicate his past performance. He also racked up 166 yards and a touchdown on 17 catches in Week 1.
