Expert Analysis
Brian Jerzak | Prep Redzone Scout
Primus was quick into the hole to make a tackle on the inside. He wasn’t fooled on a counter play and made a tackle, preventing a first down.

The best word I can use to describe Primus is violent. He attacks running backs and offensive linemen with a force not always seen with inside linebackers. Some of his collisions with offensive linemen are just as impressive as watching him make a tackle. He uses those collisions to plug up the hole, forcing the running back out of the hole, or uses the impact to scrape off the potential blocker to get involved in the play. He is a prototypical between-the-tackles linebacker, but with 109 total tackles, he has the speed and athletic ability to get sideline to sideline.

Another big backer with plenty of firepower,

combines a hulking frame with speed and instincts that take his game up another notch. He uses his 6-foot-1, 220 pound frame to throw himself into the trenches, taking on backers and blockers alike on his mission to negate any form of yardage. Some of Primus’ biggest plays actually came in the state tournament. The Rocori product stopped plenty of short third and fourth down plays, which all led to either punts or turnovers that kept his team in the game until the final whistle. Rocori made it to the state quarterfinals last year, and with Primus championing the defense for another season, it seems like they are due for another trip to the Bank.

Yet another Rocori Spartan linebacker with good size, 6’1, 220 lb. rising senior Jackson Primus was a monster as a junior and tallied 109 tackles and 3 TFLs from the heart of the Spartans defense during their ’22 Class 4A semifinal run. Winona State, Southwest MN State, and MSU-Moorhead all reached out with junior day invites during February. Primus plays with a hard-charging playstyle and strong motor that shows up when he’s chasing down plays at the edge of the defense or putting his 100% all into a tackle or when attacking a block. He’s also patient when tracking the football and is a strong tackler once he gets ahold of a ball carrier. I love the first play of Primus‘ junior highlights where he makes a huge TFL during the state semifinal in what was a massive, momentum-filled 4th down stop. Size, production, hustle, and playoff experience is an enticing combination!
